Don't be afraid to share your thoughts and feelings...

Before you even begin a conversation, ensure that you have done all the preparation you need to.

  1. Write down your experience of the conflict.  Ask yourself whether it was an isolated incident?
  2. How are you feeling? check whether you are OK you and you are not being overly sensitive
  3. Put yourself in the other person shoes - get a sense of their perspective
  4. Think about your ideal outcome, a good outcome and your least acceptable outcome, manage your expectations
  5. Find a time that is right for both of you
  6. At the start agree to discuss the issue by taking turns of sharing each others experience and ideally find a solution
  7. Ensure you clarify the topic or issue
  8. Take turns to share your experiences
  9. Clarify and repeat if necessary
  10. Decide on a future focused solution
